Immigration

Guidance for your family’s next chapter.

Immigration matters can shape your family’s future. Rakesh helps individuals and families understand their options and know what to expect at each step.

Clear advice for an important journey

Whether you hope to bring a loved one to the United States, become a permanent resident or take the final step to citizenship, immigration applications involve detailed forms, strict eligibility rules and careful supporting evidence. Small mistakes can lead to delays, requests for more evidence or denials.

Rakesh helps individuals and families understand which options may be available to them, explains the process in simple terms and prepares each application carefully, so you know what to expect at every step.

About processing times. Processing times are set by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Department of State. No one can guarantee how long an application will take or what the outcome will be, but we will keep you informed along the way. Official information is available at uscis.gov.

Protect yourself from fraud. Only licensed attorneys and accredited representatives may give immigration legal advice. Be cautious of “notarios” or consultants who promise results. Learn more on the USCIS avoid-scams page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply for a green card without leaving the United States?

Some people can apply through adjustment of status from inside the country, depending on how they entered, their immigration history and their relationship to the petitioner. Others must complete the process at a U.S. consulate abroad. Your history matters, so get advice before you file.

How long will the process take?

It varies widely depending on the type of application, the family relationship, the applicant’s country and current government processing times. We can’t promise timing, but we will explain the steps and keep you updated.

When can I apply for U.S. citizenship?

Many permanent residents can apply after five years of permanent residence (or three years if they have been married to and living with a U.S. citizen during that time), provided they meet other requirements such as continuous residence and physical presence. We can check your eligibility.

What documents will I need?

Usually identity and civil documents such as passports and birth and marriage certificates, evidence of your immigration status and history, and evidence supporting your relationship or eligibility. Documents that are not in English generally need certified translations.

What if I have a past immigration or criminal issue?

Tell us at the start. Past overstays, prior immigration proceedings, arrests or convictions can affect eligibility, and some situations need careful assessment before any application is filed.

Do I need a lawyer for an immigration application?

An attorney can help you understand your options, spot potential problems early and prepare a complete, consistent application.
